The night she asked the summer not to end
It is the last week of August, in a village by the sea. The boats are coming home, the restaurant lights come on one by one, and she is on the beach — shoes left on the sand, a lantern burning beside a basket of lemons. Next to her, someone who in a few days will be gone.
"Agosto non finire" is the first chapter of a journey across Italy: an Italian ballad in the tradition of the great love songs, a prayer to time, the impossible request to stop the summer once you understand — too late — how much it is worth. Five minutes of song, because some nights cannot be told in a hurry.
